Osun To Pay LG Outstanding Arrears

Osun State Government, on Thursday September 22, 2016, disclosed that all outstanding debts of the Local Governments staffs in the state would be paid soon.

The Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Elder Peter Babalola, stated this at the Local Government Service Commission Hall, Osogbo, Osun state capital, during the 12th Conference of Auditor-General in the Federation, South-West Zone.

Babalola who commended Local Government staffs for their perseverance and dedication, stated that the government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is aware of their support and endurance.

He assured that plans have been concluded to pay all outstanding fees, owed the Local Government staffs in the state.

The Local Government boss, who also attributed the inability of the state government to pay workers salary to the economic recession, hinted that plans are in top gears to salvage Osun state from the present condition.

He described the conference as a right step, especially at this time of economic recession, promising that he would continue to strive for the well being of local government staffs.

“Realization, harmonization and development of our common heritage in the South-West is the reason for championing Regional Integration by our Governor.

“This programme is coming at the right time and a right step in fostering regional integration among our people in the South-West.

He noted that series of training have been conducted for workers in various level at the local government for effective performance.

Earlier in his welcome address, the host, Auditor-General of Osun state, Mr Emmanuel Kolapo, commended the state government for carrying local government along in all its programmes.

He said the theme: “IPSAS ACCRUAL: A Panacea for Fiscal Transparency and Economic Recovery”, was carefully chosen to address the current problem being faced by the country.

The Chairman, Forum of Council Managers, Yinka Odewale Esq, lauded Governor Aregbesola for bringing government nearer to the people at the grass root with the creation of additional 31 LCDA.
