An aspirant for the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the August 17 National Convention of the party, Mr Funmiso Babarinde has urged delegates, elders and stakeholders to carefully vote for people who can restructure the party and make it a credible opposition.

Babarinde said the PDP members should use the convention to present a convincing alternative party to Nigerians who were eagerly looking for substitute to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has made life a hell for them.

He stated this in a press statement tagged: “Don’t Give APC Another Chance in 2019”, a copy of which was made available to CityMirrorNews on Sunday, warning that members of the party should not give APC another chance to rule Nigeria in 2019.

According to Babarinde, it is time the PDP members sell the party’s policies and programmes, instead of defending and promoting leaders of the party, adding that it is time for interest groups and stakeholders to harmonise and work for the restructure, reunion and rebranding of the party for victory in the 2019 elections.

The Osun State born politician maintained that majority of Nigerians still love the PDP and ready to work for its victory, provided that the party gets itself right and serve as a formidable opposition party with clear vision and programmes.

Babarinde said: “As we are about to have a fresh journey of national leadership for our party through the Port-Harcourt National Convention which comes up on the 17th of August, I am appealing to all our elders, leaders, state executives and delegates to be fair and sincere in voting for the next set of National Executive of the party.

“It is time we defend and sell our party’s policies and programmes to the people, instead of defending the personalities of our leaders.

“It is time we give Nigerians credible opposition and alternatives to the APC. It is time to tell the whole world what we are, our programmes, vision and ability and prospect. We should explore the peoples’ love for the PDP and make it a formidable opposition party to rescue Nigerians from their suffering.

“It is time to reignite the passion Nigerians have for PDP that sustained it for 16 uninterrupted years. The set of people we elect at the convention will pilot the affairs of the party, make or mar it. We must carefully choose who will lead us with sincerity.

“As an aspirant to the post of Deputy National Publicity Secretary, I will uphold all the ideals and tenets of democracy and good governance that put people at the front burner all the time. There is need to aggressively market PDP once again and the task is not for lily liver.
