Osun State Commissioner-Designate Undergoes Security Screening

After more than one and a half year of the second term into the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola without any Commissioner, the Directorate of State Security may have commenced screening of commissioners-designate being proposed in the State cabinet

A source disclosed to CityMirrorNews that in the past few days, some people believed to be under consideration as commissioner-designate in the next cabinet, visited the state headquarters of DSS for screening.

Screening by the Department of State Security, DSS, is part of the procedures before anyone is appointed into public office.

The source added that in the exercise, a lecturer in Osun state Polytechnic, Iree, said to be on the list of probable commissioners, from Osun Central Senatorial District, and had been screened by DSS.

“Everything is being kept under wrap. Some people have been screened already. But this does not mean the list would be made known anytime some. But let’s wait”, a security source, who claimed anonymity told our correspondent.

The exercise is however raising fresh concerns in the fold of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state, as candidates of two former governors, Chief Adebisi Akande and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola are said to be feeling sidelined in the screening exercise.

Many leading members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in August, 2014 dumped the party and followed Oyinlola to APC few days to the governorship election won by Governor Aregbesola.

Few of those that defected alongside Oyinlola into APC are former secretary to Osun state government, Alhaji Kazeem Adio, former chairman of Osogbo local government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye and former Osun PDP Central Senatorial Secretary, Alhaji Aliu Akinloye, among
others.

At the last check, none of the candidates said to relying on support of both Akande and Oyinlola are being giving a look at, fueling speculations that their fate may have been sealed.
