National Convention: Osun PDP Presents Funmiso Babarinde as Deputy National Publicity Secretary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has presented a former Special Assistant on student matters to former governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun state, on Students Matters, Mr Funmiso Babarinde for the position of the of Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party in its 2016 National Convention.

Babarinde, popularly called BF by his admirer, is a strong and loved member of the PDP in Osun state who has a pedigree, integrity and maturity to occupy the DNPS office, according to findings.

Osun PDP took the decision to present Babarinde following the zoning of the position the South alongside nine other positions including the National Chairmanship position of the party.

PDP leaders in the region have, however, shared the positions among the three zones that consist the southern region.

In the arrangement, the chairmanship position, treasurer, and deputy national publicity secretary of the party were zoned to the South-West.

Sources in the PDP state that the party executives in the state led by its Chairman, Hon. Soji Adagunodo have approved the candidature of Babarinde for the position.

Babarinde hails from Yakooyo in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun state.

He started his Political career about 26 years ago in the Old Oyo state during the National Republican Convention/ Social Democratic Party years.

He was the Ife North Local Government NRC party Coordinator for Late Dr Abdul Jelil Amoloye, a Unilorin Lecturer from Oke Ogun, who was a leading contender in NRC for Oyo State governorship ticket.

The vocal and friendly politician had also worked with Senator Bayo Salami who was then Chairman of Olorunda Local Government, Osogbo and later NRC osun gubernatorial candidate when Osun was carved out of Oyo state.

Babarinde was the first Public Relations Officers of the Student Union Government, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree where he studied Business Studies. After a brilliant academic performance and acquisition of a National Diploma in OSPOLY, he proceeded to The Polytechnic Ibadan for Higher National Diploma in Marketing.

He contested as an aspirant for the post of Local Government Chairman for Ife North Local Government in 2002 under the PDP.

He worked briefly as a Technologist (an academic staff) in the department of marketing, Osun state Polytechnic Iree before he was appointed Executive Assistant to Oyinlola on Students Matters during his second tenure as Governor of Osun State. He was immediate past Assistant State Organising Secretary of PDP under the chairmanship of Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa.

Babarind has continuously assisted his political party in defeating the opposition despite the presence of a notable figure in the community.

Leaders from his local government have also attested to his role as a mediator between warring factions and interest groups during politicking in his home front and he has never been involved in factional politics.

He is a renowned Public Affairs analyst in both National print and electronic media. BF is a responsible family man and a consistent politician.
