As part of efforts to assist students who are Oyo state indigenes across Nigeria towards achieving development and success in their education, Bayo Adelabu Foundation today, organized Easter celebration for the indigene students.
Chief Adebayo Adelabu, an aspirant in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in the state on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, said that the event is one of the pillars and objectives of the foundation to provide educational support to students.
Students who are Oyo state indigenes from various tertiary institutions attended the programme which was held at Bayo Adelabu Foundation hall located at Jericho Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
Different activities were organised among which was essay competition titled: Achieving inclusive development in Oyo state.
Over 100 entries were received by the organisers of which five among the essay competition participants emerged winners and each of them went home with huge monetary prize.
A 500 level Civil Engineering student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Idowu Jamiu Adekunle, came first in the essay competition.
Commenting on the entries, Adelabu said, “These are essays that shows us what we need to do in Oyo state to take Oyo state to the next level”.
He added that the Foundation distributed prize money, between 50, 000 to N200, 000 to each of the essay winners.
Meanwhile, 10 first class students across the state also received N50, 000 each.
In the same vein, scholarship and bursary awards were given to about 1000 Oyo students as promised.
Talent showcase aspect of the event enabled some of the students to display their talents.
Adelabu said, “Talent showcasing is one of the objectives of Bayo Adelabu Foundation. It has been in existence for the past ten years and this is an annual event and next year, we will have it again”.
He hoped that the prizes and bursary awards would be more than what have been witnessed today.
