Instagram Down Again As Users Receive ‘Account Suspended’ Messages And Are Left Unable To Log In
Instagram on outageInstagram has confirmed the outage. “We’re aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We’re looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience. ”
Scores of Instagram users took to Twitter to complain that the app is crashing. Some users say that their accounts are suspended without any reason provided by the company and they have been given 30 days time “to disagree” with them. Others said that their Instagram page displayed a message for suspended account when they logging in. The details mentioned that the accounts were suspended for not adhering to community guidelines.
A section of Twitter users started posting memes turning the opportunity into a meme fest. As per the Downdetector website, which tracks internet outages, users started reporting issues starting at 6.17 pm and the number of complaints have been on a rise since. Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources including user-submitted errors on its platform.
The news comes a few days after both Instagram and WhatsApp suffered outages. Those major outages left users unable to send messages for almost two hours.
On the previous outages, a Meta
spokesperson said that “the brief outage was a result of a technical error on our part and has now been resolved.” The company had even acknowledged the problem saying that it was aware that some people were having trouble sending messages. Even for Instagram, Meta announced that ‘Configuration change’ was the reason behind the global Instagram outage.
At the time of writing this report, there’s no word from Meta or Instagram on what is causing the crashing and suspension of accounts. It seems to be a technical problem, rather than a mass banning of accounts.
