Why I Produced ‘BÍSÍ’ – Nigerian Filmmaker, Korede Olayinka

An award winning Nigerian filmmaker, Korede Olayinka has said that his new movie, titled: ‘BÍSÍ,’ was produced to correct some societal ills and harmful practices against the girl child and also enlighten the populace on the dangers of illicit sex, abortion among others.

Olayinka, who is the producer and director of the educative and entertaining film disclosed that the movie has some associate producers like Dr Costly Aderibigbe, Mr Timothy Agbor, Temitope Fayomi and Dr Toyosi Afọlábí.

Speaking on why he embarked on shooting the film, Olayinka said it was due to the love he has for society and betterment of humanity.

According to him, “the whole idea about the film was birthed when I felt that the society is lacking a content that is checking on life-threatening activities that is killing us. I came up with the idea of shooting a film that will enlighten the society most especially on Female Genital Mutilation, unprotected sex, HIV, abortion and the likes.

“This is not my first time in making a film that has to do with society reformation. Recently, I directed a film: THE SUBWAY; a film that was selected and screened in Europe, Asia and Africa.

“I was doubled as the producer and director of the film and has some associate producers like Dr Costly Aderibigbe, Mr Timothy Agbor, Temitope Fayomi, Dr Toyosi Afọlábí; these people have been in support in making decisios and to tell a believable story.

“As it has been designed, the film is to be screened to 1 million people through public and private screening both in rural and urban area, an NGO, Value Female Network and a media house; Rootkulture event and entertainment UK have pledged their support in distribution.

“The film features several veterans like Jumoke George, Jebutu Mofehintolaoluwa (Junior) Olaide Ajani, Oreoluwa Adedoyin and introducing: Aramide Ọlọ́kọ̀.

“The film was proudly supported by VALUE FEMALE NETWORK, VICTOR OJEVWE, LAFUP TV, STATUE SPLITTERS STUDIOS. LENS VISUAL, OLAYINKA JOHNSON.”
