Alumni Donate Computers, Generator, Others To Osun Poly

Ex-students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun state under the aegis of Ospoly Alumni Association, on Friday donated two desktop computers, one generating set and two standing fans to their alma mater.

The president of the Alumni association, Mr Adegboye Olalekan, who led the delegation, said their action was informed by the need to give back to the citadel of learning that made them.

Olalekan said that the association deemed it necessary to donate the items so as to enhance the productivity in keeping records and certificates of the old and new students.

“This gesture would help the institution in service delivery in some strategies units like exam and record, verification office and certificate office.

“These are the units that are involved in keeping records, processing of results and certificates of ex-students.

“We present these gifts to the institution to make sure that we contribute our own quotas to enhance their productivity such that they would be able to satisfy those who are approaching their offices for one thing or the other.”

He charged management to ensure that ICT is used to drive a lot of activities in order to be among the leading institutions in the area of technology in Nigeria.

He said “Osoply Alumni association recognize the fact that management has put a lot of effort to be the first among the equal but we will like the school authority to intensify effort in the aspect of ICT development.

“During his tenure as Rector, Dr Jacob Agboola, ensured that the institution witness a lot of development in ICT and there is still room for improvement.”

The president equally implored students of the institution to do away with any activities capable of tarnishing the image of the school and the family they hail from.

He said: “let me use this opportunity to appeal to our students to shun all form of social vices , such as cultism, hooliganism among other activities capable of tarnishing your image, image of the institution or that can jeopardize your future

He appealed to all members of the association to come together and make great impact on the school.

Receiving the donation, the rector, Dr Jacob Agboola commended the new executive of the association for the spirit of giving back to their institution.

Agboola urged Alumni to be fully involved in the academic, infrastructure development and in mentoring students that would come for their advise.

He however congratulated the new executive of the association, charging them to work as a team for development of the association, institution and Nigeria at large.

The rector assured that equipment would be judiciously harnessed to enhance academic excellence.
