Road Safety Officer Arraigned For Assaulting IBEDC Staff In Osogbo
A 45-year-old Road Safety officer, Olumide Ajakaye has been dragged before an Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, over an alleged assault.
The accused was arraigned by the Osun state police command on a two-count charge bordering on assault and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.
Ajakaye was said to have committed the offence on March 29, 2023 at 10:30am, at Ayekale area, Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Police Prosecutor, Inspr. K. Adeoye told the court that the accused did conduct himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace.
Adeoye further explained that the accused allegedly assaulted one Kazeem Suleiman, a staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Osogbo with a cutlass and inflicted injury on his left leg.
The alleged offences according to the Prosecutor contravened Section 249(D) and 355 of Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against him.
Defense Counsel, Adepoju Ibrahim applied for the bail of the accused person in the most liberal term.
Presiding Magistrate, A O Odeleye granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in the like sum.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till March 12, 2023 for hearing.
