Court Remands 2 In Prison For Impersonation, Extortion As Police Officers In Osun

A Magistrate Court has remanded Two Persons in prison for alleged impersonation and extortion of motorists as Police officers in Osogbo, the state capital, Osun state.

The two persons were Akilou Siddo, (44) and Habib Siddo, (30) who appeared before the Magistrate Court in Osogbo on Tuesday for alleged impersonation and possession of Police uniforms, used to defraud members of the public.

The duo were charged before the court on a three-count charges bordering on impersonation, fraud and unlawful possession of police uniform.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Fatoba Tope, explained to the court that the defendants wore police uniforms at about 9am on the 8th of July,year 2022 along Ring-Road Area of Osogbo, to extort the public of their money.

Tope further said that the offences were contrary to, and punishable under Section 517, 109 and 428(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria,2002.

After long litigations from right to the left, the accused however pleaded not guilty to the allegations charged against them.

The presiding magistrate, Olusola Aluko , ordered that the suspects be remanded in prison before formal bail application could be filed by the their Lawyer, Tunbosun Oladipupo .

The Magistrate therefore adjourned the case to October 18, 2022 for further hearing.
